Day 4 Questions for Midterm

1.What are Internet cookies? An HTTP cookie is a packet of information sent by a server to a World Wide Web browser and then sent back by the browser each time it accesses that server.

2.What are packets? A packet is the fundamental unit of information carriage in all modern computer networks that use packet switching.

3.What route do packets take over the Internet? Traceroute is the route packets take over the internet.

4.What is a 404 error on the web? A 404 error on the Web is a link to a missing page.

5. What is 'e-commerce'? Electronic Commerce is exactly analogous to a marketplace on the Internet.

6.What is the difference between ebay and craigslist? you would have to pay to use ebay when craigslist is free.

7.What is SSL? Secure Sockets Layer are cryptographic protocols which provide secure communications on the Internet.

8.What are the two major ways for home users to connect to the Internet via a high speed connection?


9.What is a T-1 line? A T-1 line is a high speed digital connection capable of transmitting data at a rate of approximately 1.544 million bits per second.
